My granddaughter, the sweetest girl I know, will soon be celebrating her eighth birthday. A month ago her mother recognized that Isabella was having difficulty telling time. It wasn't that she didn't know how. She couldn't see the numbers on the clock.
I: Isabella
Another feeble attempt at Iambic Pentameter.
Is a Belle I once knew before today
the one who sang about short stout teapots?
Is a Belle I once knew before today
the one who stayed not near twenty one days?
Is a Belle I once knew before today
the one who held onto White Bear turned gray?
Is a Belle I once knew before today
the one who kept magic turtles close by?
Is a Belle I once knew before today
the one who danced in twirls of pink now blue?
Is a Belle I once knew before todaythe one who viewed the world through eyes of gauze?
Is a Belle I know who comes here today
the one who gazes clear eyed now through bright lenses?
I hope her new glasses don't take all of the rose coloring away, not for a long, long time at least.
I have created a page for Anna's Diary. It can be found under the Tab titled Anna's Diary.
I have posted all of the entries to date there, starting with January 1, 1929.
Here is today's entry from Anna's Diary
Wed. April 10 1929
Elsie, Mimie and I went for lunch to Elizabeth M's in Arlington. Spent pleasant afternoon. At night Marietta with George and Corinne came. We played bridge and I served.

Dropping by from the A-Z!
beautiful grandaughter! I know she gives you much pleasure! Yes, those rose colored glasses that children wear are so endearing! I know my 7 year old grandson has such a magnificent view of the world, I wish he could keep it forever! Love your poem too!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Holly.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet poem and an adorable picture. I am insanely intimidated by iambic pentameter (but I'm addicted to alliteration apparently).
