M: My Magical Place
This is where I go when "it" gets to be too much. There are times that I am whisked away by my sometimes over protective subconscious guardian, and plopped down there with a thump.
Other times I have to gently guide my weary self along the well worn path.
My MP has different iterations.
Just as when I get feelings of discontent with bursts of unsettled energy, and find myself uncontrollably, obsessively rearranging the furniture in my living room, my mood also determines what my magical place looks like and how it will feel once I am there.
Whether it is a beach on tropical deserted island or a cabin in a lush forrest, I always arrive there alone.
Perhaps it will be on a front porch swing, listening to the squeak, squeak of the chain as I rock back and forth.
Other times I may find myself sitting on the hot sand, watching the waves gently move in and out, in and out. As I lean back to feel the warmth of the sun on my face, I hear the lonely cries of the sea gulls overhead.
It is not until after I feel calm, content, safe and happy, then and only then, will I allow visitors into my Magical Place and the "No Vacancies" sign will blink on and off, on and off.
I have created a page for Anna's Diary. It can be found under the Tab titled Anna's Diary.
I have posted all of the entries to date there, starting with January 1, 1929.

I LOVE Anna's diary. Thank you so much for sharing that. I have been working on a story from the past, and it gave me the idea to use a fictious diary as a mean's of character development, as an exercise. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love the newspaper link, especially the adverts. Dinner for $1 sounds good!
ReplyDeleteThere is so much potential for life's stories in a diary. It is like trying to solve a puzzle as I attempt to figure out who the different characters are, what their relationship to Anna is and what part they each play in her life.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found inspiration in Anna's diary.
I don't think I have a magic place. I do have real places where I go - I suppose the closest I might come to a magic place is my studio.....
ReplyDeleteIt is very important to have a magic place where no one can go but you. I have one and I defend it greatly!
ReplyDeleteI agree. Sometimes it just may be a candle lit bubbly soak, but they are my bubbles :)
ReplyDeleteYou certainly make magic there. So I decree your studio qualifies as an MP.
ReplyDeleteOften in it only in one's minds where one feels truly at peace - a mind palace, for instance - it may serve as a memory tool as well as a daily vacation. Using the method of loci, one may often find their home.

Hi, I really enjoyed the "MP" post, but also the pictures of Grandpa and the grandkids. Adorable! Since I live alone, anyplace I want to go in my mind, I can do it in any room of the house. Best regards to you. Ruby aka Grammy
ReplyDeleteI need to get better at Magic Place making, I'm pretty sure. :)
