I will be posting six days a week for the month of April - (with a rest day on Sunday).
Each post will begin with the corresponding letter of the alphabet beginning with A and finishing with the letter Z.
I began participating in this challenge in 2012. With the exception of last year, I believe I completed the challenge each year. Last year I lost steam somewhere around the letter W.
Jeopardy
Sometime during the evening, five days a week, Ross and I settle in for an evening of "telaviewing".
One of the shows we record on the DVR so we can watch without commercials, is the quiz show Jeopardy.
In case you are not familiar with the show:
"The show features a quiz competition in which contestants are presented with general knowledge clues in the form of answers, and must phrase their responses in the form of questions."
Either I'm getting smarter or the clues are getting easier than I once remembered them to be.
I strongly suspect that the producers of the show figured it would be more enjoyable if the TV audience could come up with a correct answer here and there.
Ross is better at this game than I am. He gets more right than I do.
I find the show interesting for this reason. I am surprised at how much knowledge I have tucked away in my memory.
On the latest episode, this was a clue that I got right.
Ross knew this one, I didn't
This was the final Jeopardy clue:
This was a tough one. We didn't know the "answer". Two of the contestants didn't know it either.
Do you play Jeopardy?
Alex Trebeck, the host of the show, recently revealed that he has advanced stage pancreatic cancer.
In his statement he also said that he is going to fight as hard as he can to beat it.
I am sad that Mr. Trebeck has this horrible disease. I hope he gets well.
The answer to the first clue is Abe Lincoln. The second answer is Kamehameha.
The final Jeopardy answer is Berlin.
I stopped recording Jeopardy a few years ago, mostly because I didn't have the time to keep up with it. I do like feeling smart when I know a lot of the questions. (I did know the first 2 but not the final in your post.)
ReplyDeleteThe current contestant is really good. He is a professional sports game gambler so he takes lots of risks. He has won a lot of money so far.
DeleteWe watch it together almost nightly-- I'm not very good at it but my daughter is -- and my little grandson loves the theme music!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great show!
DeleteI remember watching the show when I was growing up and I think Don Pardo was the host. I remember being impressed at the time when I got a few answers right, LOL!
ReplyDeleteWe catch it occasionally. I was sad too to hear about his cancer diagnosis. Pancreatic cancer is not one of those cancers you "want" to get. I hope he defies the odds.
betty
As I said watching Jeopardy has become part of our nightly routine. I used to "laugh" at my mother when it was part of her nightly routine. Check it out now, the champ is quite impressive.
DeleteI had to stop watching, I can answer so few of them!
